I recently bought a kit to make this fantastic lace collar for my son’s girlfriend for her birthday. It was so fab and easy that I thought I’d share the website with everyone. The kit came with everything you need except thread and the instructions were step by step and very clear.
Fabric Godmother is a great site for a number of reasons, firstly of course there is a fantastic array of fabrics to choose from and at very reasonable prices too. My current wish list includes this pretty stretch cotton for £12 a metre
and the wax print cottons like this on trend flying ducks pattern.
My favourite thing about Fabric Godmother though, given my lack of ‘proper’ dressmaking experience in recent years is that she gives a rating to the patterns from Beginner to Advanced which reduces the chances of me biting off more than I can chew! There is also a great range of patterns which include my favourites from Colette but also Sewaholic
(for the Pear Shaped woman – oh yes!) and DIY Couture designed by Rosie Martin who says “The instructions remove the need for complex sewing patterns. Diagrams and pictures take the maker through the creation process, so that unique, personally fitted pieces of clothing are accessible to anyone.” What’s not to love!
Fabric Godmother also has a fab blog http://fabricgodmother.blogspot.co.uk/ which is brilliant for tips on what patterns to use to get the outcome you want and creative ideas like how to make this fab jersey top in 15 minutes!
Check it out and get making!
Keep the vintage love xx
